Turkish Food Festival

 

Recently Raindrop Turkish House in Little Rock hosted a Turkish Food Festival. The last two summers my husband and I have enjoyed traveling to Turkey so we took advantage of the food festival to visit with friends and enjoy some of our favorite Turkish dishes.

 

Gyro, sish kebab, kisir, borek, baklava and numerous other Turkish specialties were prepared for tasting.

The festival was a good way to spend a dreary Saturday afternoon.

 

 

Raindrop House is offering a Turkish cooking class in the fall.

I hope my schedule will allow me to participate.

Don Gammie Turkey Trot - 2012

While visiting relatives for the Thanksgiving Holiday I was invited to participate in the Don Gammie Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning. The Turkey Trot is an annual fund-raising event for the Grassy Knob Fire Department near Eureka Springs, AR. Don Gammie is retired and lives in the community. Even though the morning was overcast and chilly it was a beautiful day for a walk through the forest in the Arkansas Ozarks.

Sesquicentennial Celebration - Happy Birthday Cross County!

Today I attended the 150th birthday celebration for Cross County, Arkansas. The county has been celebrating all week with a wide range of events.

1862-2012

Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery - Birdeye - Dedication Ceremony

Friday, May 4, 2012 at 1 PM

Today was a special day for Cross County, Arkansas. The long awaited Veterans Cemetery was dedicated on this sunny, hot, windy afternoon. There was music by the 106th Arkansas Army National Guard Band. The Wynne High School JROTC, the Forrest City High School JROTC, the West Memphis JROTC and the Arkansas Patriot Guard Riders all participated in the program.
